Adopt a Home for Wildlife

Adopt Home for Wildlife is part of a wider project which aims to protect Montserrat’s unique biodiversity, ecosystems and natural capital through community action. It is led by the Montserrat National Trust on island with support from partners coordinated by UKOTCF. Adopters are those local people or groups who volunteer and are accepted to manage an area of land (Wildlife Home) within the project.

A network of sites across the island has been established where action takes place to improve conditions for biodiversity and, where possible, opportunities for people to improve livelihoods and well-being are provided. Preliminary ecological surveys of the sites were conducted and, with this information, a management plan was developed between the Adopters and the project partners.

Repeat surveys were being conducted to review progress.
